Laura was used to getting this note but she didn't think it would happen on the first day back.

*Knock, Knock*

"Mr. Rodgers you wanted to see me?"

She already knew what this was about. "Please come in, come in." Mr Rodgers had opened door policy even if students were already in the schedule of appointments.

Laura took a seat, hugging her backpack in front of her like a shield she could hide behind. She did know why she was here but tried to deflect with a bit of unconvincing humor.

"I swear I don't know who put bologna all over the principals car."

[Amaterasu]

Mr Rodgers chuckled. "I know...you are progressing. I saw you with friends last evening. Even Richad was coming out of his shell. How did you feel with that group of people?" His voice soft and gentle.

[Laura Dawson/Enrage]

Laura sighed.

"I wish people would stop using that word. I've lived in the same town as Johnothan forever and barely know him, I JUST met Astrid; I would hardly say their friends with me. It felt weird and like, claustrophobic. Richard is OK, I feel really bad for him. Have you heard that song Jeremy? I worry that could be him, like he's just gonna snap one day; Genesis is so mean to him."

[Amaterasu]

"Come on, Laura... I read Astrid's file and she likes to draw. She may be a bit of a rebel but I think she is what you need." Mr Rodgers smiled. "You know give it a try don't let incidents like the one last night or the one this morning let you down. Jono isn't the only one who you have lived in the same town and wants to know you." The man took some notes.

"Yeah she likes to draw, lots of people do. I ran into her this morning and saw some of her stuff and it's really good. It has a sharpness I can't do. But one or two good moments doesn't mean she is a friend, she's way too cool and unique to hang out with me. She may not end up hanging out with Genesis and her goons but guys like Brandon Jace will be hanging all over her in no time. As for Johnothan and the others, I mean I also hung out with Cameron York at the comic shop yesterday and that was cool but most people my age have already made up their minds about me."

[Amaterasu]

"I think you guys measure yourselves with the wrong side of the stick. Would you do me a favor and just ask Astrid if she would like to be your friend. Exchange phone numbers... I heard about that movie night, I will try to convince your parents to let you go." He smiled "Haow about that?"

[Laura Dawson/Enrage]

"I don't see what the big deal with having lots of friends is, I have Jake isn't that enough? Please don't call my parents or say anything to the other guys, I don't want to be invited because some grownups made them invite me. There wasn't like a day set for it or anything so maybe it will never happen."

[Amaterasu]

"Oh, come on..." Then the man became somber at the mention of Jake. "Jake Fuentes..." He sighed. How would he break the news to her about her friend gone missing. "No, it is not enough, just the right number of friends is a minimum of 3." He nodded. "that is not a lot but is a good number."

[Laura Dawson/Enrage]

"That feels like an arbitrary number but we will see, it's only been one day. Plus I have bigger problems like having my locker glued shut."

[Amaterasu]

"Let's see..." He started searching in his desk. "You might want this." He offered her a scraper and some alcohol. "This might help." He sighed."I don't know how can the custodian be unaware on who is doing those stupid pranks."

[Laura Dawson/Enrage]

"We may not know who did it but you know who was responsible for it. Why not make them fix it? They get away with murder because everyone is scared of their parents." Laura pouted.

[Amaterasu]

"I'll see what I can do." He nodded. "Not many know this but the mayor and I go way back... I am not scared of him." He shook his head with a smile. "Maybe I can ask Marshal to work something out."

[Laura Dawson/Enrage]

"Well tell him that his daughter and her friends are making life hell for other people, including his son." She getting more and more upset and teetered between either crying or putting her fist into a wall. "Maybe I would have some friends if Shannon and Stephanie hadn't been spreading rumors about me since we were 5."

As she started to show signs of being upset, Mr Rodgers opened a drawer of his desk and a sweet aroma rose calming the girl down. "You have to let go of the past and focus on the future." A small happy image of the future came into Laura's mind.

Laura didn't really hear Mr. Rodgers last words as she was suddenly caught in a daydream. She imagined herself receiving an Eisner Award, presented to her by Jack Kirby. A small smile came to her face.

"Huh? Oh, sorry Mr. Rodgers I missed that."

[Amaterasu]

"Nothing important... I just like to see that smile in your face." He nodded. "Just let me know if you got new friends... send me a page if you need to. You have my pager number, right?"
