(Day 3, LA, Graveyard) Broken Strings

The sound of guitar strings, seemingly plucked arbitrarily, drifted across the quiet cemetary. Jonothan sat beside a pair of gravestones, fixing his guitar.

"It was unbelievable. They both broke, just like that. Things have been getting really weird around here."

Mariana also came to the cemetery. She went to her grandmother's grave to talk to the spirit of the woman. "Nana... espero que estes bien... today was a weird day... my bow broke... Yo se lo mucho que te gusta mi música y poesía... pos... no creo que pueda seguir componiendo... Nana, what should I do?"

Jono set his guitar down, leaning it against one of the gravestones.

"I'll be right back."

He stood up and slowly made his way towards Mariana, not wanting to intrude until it seemed appropriate.

Mariana sighed, then chuckled. "Pos tienes razon..." She turned and saw Jono. "Hola... I mean Hi..." She realized she may have been loud. "Did I interrupted something?"

"No." he shook his head. "It just... I think we're here fir similar reasons. I was over there talking with my parents, while I fixed my guitar."

"Probably... This is my grandmother's grave... she died a year ago...I come here to well... talk to her. The altar st home is not very private." Mariana explained. "Today was weird and I needed to tell her."

"Yeah, that's how I felt." He looked back at his guitar. "There's been a lot of weirdness lately. But, you, me and Coop... That was crazy."

"Maybe it has to do with what is happening down at the lake." She shrugged. "We are a weird bunch of kids with you know..."

"Yeah. I didn't realize there were so many of us." He rubbed the back of his neck. "It has to mean something, right?"

"I don't know... maybe that bad things are about to happen and only we can stop it." Mariana shrugged. "Or by my mom's belief... a test of the moral of this world."

He glanced back at his guitar.

"How is your bow?"

"Well, I won't be playing for a while. I need to buy the new hairs and wax." She opened her backpack and searched for her notebook and pen. "Do you mind if I write a poem down?"

"It has been one of those days when my poems are just a good escape." The girl sat down and started writing. "I just write poems... not great stuff but good enough. "

He stepped away for a minute and returned with his guitar and backpack.

A new circle began
What comes; who knows
time will see if I can

"hmmm..." The girl sighs as she continued. She saw Jono get his guitar.

Music fell silent
Strings and bow broken
Unfortunate events
The spirit striken

Good advice come
Irregular places
Dead peoples ghosts
Friendships grow

Jono began tuning and testing his guitar as he walked back and was soon singing quietly to himself.

Mariana finished her poem and nodded.She listened to Jono play and sighed. When he finished singing, the girl snapped her fingers instead of applauding not to disturb the dead.
